Roman Catholic AnswerThe effects were dreadful. Many martyrs were created. Henry dissolved monasteries, confiscated Church property and tortured and killed all those who remained loyal to the Catholic Church and the Sacrifice of the Mass. He martyred priests, monks, nuns, and lay people. The effects were long lasting as the children of those heretics who deserted the Church to follow the crown were denied the sacraments, and many have been raised in the Church of England with no real knowledge of their historic faith.
