There is on mine, under the brass buttplate, on the left side. Mine is stamped 18, I believe.
First what type of shotgun is it? i.e. side by side, over under, auto loading... E. Remington and Sons began making side by side guns in the 1870s If this is an antique your best bet is to take it to an expert or to send a detailed description to one. Otherwise, modern pump / auto models are stamped on the right side of the receiver and the manufacture code is on the barrel.
