They discovered 21,000 tons of toxic waste buried beneath the neighborhood that had to be cleaned up. Not all the residents of love canal died. Many were relocated eventually and many suffered a varity of different illnesses. I grew up near there. Know people that did live there and that do live there now that it has been revitalized.
