For those families who had never heard of Jesus Christ, they would have got on with their normal lives. Which may have included giving thanks to their Gods. If the family knew about Jesus Christ then they would have asked for his blessings upon the household. They would have lived their normal lives, but knowing Christ their lives would have had more meaning, for they would have known the purpose of life.
You say "In Jesus time" meaning that He was still alive. If however it was after His crucifiction then they would have partaken of the sacrament in remembrance of Him.
