What happened if you try to escape from the concentration camps?

The main principal behind the use of concentration camp inmates was what was called at the Wansee Conference "Annihilation by work". They worked the inmates until they literally dropped dead, and frequently at pointless or futile tasks. Not all inmates were so used, however. Some were sent to sorting rooms to sort shoes, jewelry, clothing and anything else taken from new arrivals. All of these people were ones who had passed the initial "selection" upon arrival at the camp. The very young, the very old and the obviously sick or infirm were gassed immediately.

∙ 12y agoWell at concentration camps the Jewish would work then Nazi's would tell them they could take a shower but when they did gas came out and they were trapped ad killed.

There were no Polish concentration camps during World War Two. Poland was attacked by Germany in September 1939 and occupied till 1945. All concentration camps on the Polish territory were built and operated by the German government. The term "Polish concentration camps" is highly abusive to Poles as millions of Polish citizens, of whom most were of Jewish origin, were killed there. By the German Nazis. To make it clear. Note also that Poland was 100 miles further East between the World Wars, the border got shifted to take in a lot of Germany in 1945 when Soviet Russia had a major say in carving up Europe. So some concentration camps that were in Nazi Germany are now geographically in Poland. Try to find an historical atlas to fully understand! Also agreed. The camps should be referred to as Nazi German camps. In practice, the use of the term Polish concentration camps is usually lazy, not malicious. Some people also refer in the context of the Holocaust to Jewish concentration camps (!).
Why did Hitler place the concentration camps where he did?
You mean in remote, out of the way places? My opinion would be that concentration camps were built in remote areas to discourage escape and to keep the brutality and inhumanity as far away from the public eye as possible.
