Schuyler Colfax (born March 23, 1823 in New York, New York; died January 13, 1885 in Mankato, Minnesota) served as the 17th Vice-President of the United States between March 4, 1869 and March 4, 1873. Colfax was also the 29th Speaker of the House of Representatives.
