The Americans won the Revolutionary War on October 19, 1781.
October 19, 1781, Britain's Lord Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, Virginia, handing a huge victory to American Gen. George Washington and effectively ending the American Revolution and assuring America's independence.
It was in 1783 when the treaty of Paris was signed. But one of the last major battles was the Battle of Yorktown on October 19, 1781.
