He wa sent to a work camp, under a standard Nazi punishment of "hiding Jews", and several months later, was on a work detail that was in some farm fields. The work detail was strafed by British Spitfires, and in the confusion, he escaped. He gradually made his way to his home town of Hilvesrum, and hid there until liberation (only a few weeks later).
After being arrested by the Nazi police, Mr. Frank was sent to Auschwitz concentration camp where he perished in 1945, just weeks before the camp was liberated.
