There are many theories on what happened to the Tsar and his family and the most common told story is that on the 17th July 1918, the family were residing in Ekaterinburg, and during the night the Reds[Bolsheviks] woke them during the night and told them there was trouble in the town and they would be safer downstairs. However, they were not safer downstairs as Yakov Yurosky led a group of 12 soldiers into the room they were in. Yurovsky annnounced that tvhe Tsar was to be executed and before anyone could protest,, the soldiers opened fire. Nicholas and Alexandra died quickly but the girls who had jewels sewn into their clothes had to be finished off with bayonets as the bullets were deflected. However, the heir who had been shot, moaned and Yurovsky walked over to him and shot him 2 or 3 times at point blank range. However Pavel Medvedev, a Red Guard Commander, claimed that only 11 men walked into that room including Yurovsky. Some other guards present claimed to have seen the whole family, Doctor Botkin, the maid and 2 servants all dying on the floor. However, Judge Sergeyev has reason to believe that the Tsarina, Tsar's Son and the 4 other children were not shot in that house and that the Tsarm doctor, maid and servants were shot in the Ipatiev house. Sir Charles Eliot claimed there was no real evidence as to who or how many victims were killed that night as no corpses were discovered and there was no trace of burning. Although the marks in the room prove some people were shot there. Judge Sokolov reported that the whole family were killed and soon after, a lorry carried the corpses to the Four Brothers Mine, stripped of their clothes, cut up and burned on bonfires with the aid of petrol and destroyed with Sulphuric acid. Some objects were found in the mine which were undamaged by the fire and acid such as: Princess Tatiana's toy dog, a finger claimed to be the Tsarina's and corsets. However, eye witnesses claimed to have seen the Tsarina and her daughters, travelling out of Ekaterinburg.

Tsar Nicholas II was executed in 1918. In the middle of the night his family were escorted downstairs as they were told that it was dangerous but it was in fact all a set up. A man called Yurovsky ordered his men to open fire at the unsuspecting family but there are many different theories as to what happened.

One of these was the Tsar along with three servants was killed, and the rest of his family escaped by train.

The next theory was the same except five servants died along with Tsar Nicholas II.

The final theory was they were all killed, covered in petrol and burnt to dispose of the evidence.
