Bob Ewell.
Bob Ewell followed Scout and Jem from the school. Jem heard him in the woods behind them but could see no one. He urged Scout to hurry--and be quiet! When Mr. Ewell attacked, he wanted Jem out of the way so he could hurt Scout. She kept getting tipped over as they fought. She couldn't see much through her costume.
Scout says this as a way of teasing Jem in a playful manner. She is implying that Jem is acting more sensitive or emotional, traits that are often stereotypically associated with girls. It's a way for Scout to poke fun at Jem and highlight their close sibling relationship.
Scout and Jem noticed they were being followed on their way home from the Halloween pageant when they heard footsteps behind them on the deserted street and quickened their pace. They realized that the figure following them was not a normal presence in the neighborhood as it moved silently and awkwardly, heightening their unease. Jem's instincts told him that something was off, prompting them to become increasingly vigilant and eventually confirm their suspicions by observing the figure's peculiar movements.
