In the episode, "Mortal Folly" the Ice King accidentally drops Princess Bubblegum into the Litch's well of power (the litch is an evil being who's well of power appears to be a vat of toxic waste.). When the two-part episode continues in "Mortal Recoil" It is seen that Nurse Poundcake and Doctor ice cream heal her by putting sugar on her body, "Stabilizing her sugar levels". Although she appears normal at first, it is later revealed by the Ice King that he saw the litch go into Princess Bubblegum's body, sort of posessing her and making her eat toxic materials to gain size. The litch sends Princess Bubblegum on a rampage through the kingdom, and the Ice King is forced to freeze her to stop her form hurting the candy people. But, unfortunately, while frozen in the ice, she is knocked over, and her body breaks up along with the ice. she is rushed back to the hospital. Princess Bubblegum survives the accident, and comes out healthy and litch-free. But it is revealed that the Doctor and Nurse could not salvage enough gum from the ice to restore her to her normal age, and therefore, with much less gum to work with, Nurse Poundcake and Doctor Ice Cream were forced to bring her back to life at age thriteen Coincidentally the same age as Finn).
