BLACK is the stage name of British musician and frontman Colin Vearncombe.

The name BLACK specifically refers to him. The band members he performs with are hired as needed and have not been consistent.

Colin Vearncombe's first few albums were released under his stage name BLACK starting in the 1980's and early 1990's; however he continued to perform and release albums from the late 90's until 2008 under his real name as Colin Vearncombe.

His recent work from 2009 and 2013 is once again under his stage name of BLACK.

He has been an active performer for more than 30 years; his earliest stage performances began in 1981 with the release of Human Features on Rox Records. He is still performing live and has released more than a dozen albums from 1987 through 2013.

Some of his most well known however is still from his earlier years including the album BLACK by BLACK relesaed in 1991; Wonderful Life by BLACK in 1987, Comedy by BLACK in 1988, and Are We Having Fun Yet? by BLACK in 1993.

After taking a few years off he returned to performing and released his next album in 1999 under his real name Colin Vearncombe. He released 6 albums under his real name from 1999 until 2008.

Never achieving the same success he had in his early years he released an album as BLACK in 2005, Colin Vearncombe in 2008, and than than two more as BLACK in 2009 and 2013.

BLACK's most recent live tour was The BLACK Spring Tour of 2014. BLACK has performances scheduled in London and other cities for 2015 as well.

He continues to be active and has announced a new album is in progress. He also released a book of poetry on December 16, 2014 called Walk the Dotted Line by Colin Vearncombe. He also actively interacts with his fans through a twitter feed and his personal website.

So what happened to BLACK? BLACK is back, though he never really went anywhere. He's been around performing as himself: Colin Vearncombe for more than 30 years and still does.
