The Sullivan brothers were all on the same ship during WW2. When the ship was sunk all of them lost their lives. This left a family back in the US without anyone to carry on the family name. The Navy passed an order that brothers were no longer allowed to serve on the same vessel.

∙ 14y agoThe Sullivan brothers were 5 brothers who served on the same ship in the US Navy. When the Japanese attacked and sunk the ship, all 5 were killed. There was an out cry from many Americans so the military made changes that would not allow brothers to serve together. Also, there was a law that the last son could not be drafted and was allowed to stay home and support his family and also so the family would have a living heir.
