The Wichita or Kitikiti'sh people were originally a group or confederacy of independent bands speaking almost the same language and located in southern Kansas ans northern Texas. They included the Tawehash, Tawakoni, Waco, Yscani, Akwesh, Asidahetsh, Kishkat, Korishkitsu and Wichita Proper; they have since been joined by the Kichai people.
The Wichita group seems to have been generally peaceful, although they were at one time allied with the Comanche and were nominally pro-Union during the American Civil War era.
The remnant of all these groups today live on a small reservation at Caddo County, west Oklahoma, where they were relocated in 1867.
