The combined Spanish amd French Fleets had 3,242 men killed, 2,538 men wounded and 8,000 men captured plus 21 ships captured and 1 destrpyed. France ended up winning the War of the Third Coalition and began a major program of ship building after that with some success. In terms of the number of vessels produced they had achieved parity by 1812, but they were never again seen as an invasion threat to the UK after Trafalgar. Crew availability and training was considered as substandard to their needs and any engagement by their combined fleets would have resulted in a second major defeat.

They lost their maritime power, which although inferior to that of Great Britain could at least contrast the British Fleet, in the domain of the sea.

Furthermore they were compelled to definitely give up any aspiration of invading Great Britain.
