∙ 12y agoThey died right next to the ugly ones. There were very few people that were selected to work rather than die at the death camps (slightly different at Auschwitz) and most of them were men.

There was a companion organization to the Hitler Youth, for girls, called the Deutche Bund Madel. They did communal activities, and tried to indoctrinate the girls with Nazi ideology. The Nazis tried to prep the girls to want to get married and have as many babies as possible. Preferably boys, for soldiers. The Nazis were pretty sexist. They were interested in young people, but mostly the boys, a very great many of whom got killed in the war fighting for the Nazis. There is some film footage of Herman Goering, head of the German Air Force and the Number Two man in Nazi Germany. He is smiling surrounded by a group of youngsters. One gets his attention and he smiles down, and then says "Oh, you're a little girl." That was pretty much their attitude.
