You can blow a head gasket for one thing. You can also warp the heads. All sorts of bad things can happen when an engine runs hot. Your first priority is to find out why it overheated.

i own a 2001 Chevy venture warner bro. edition. and the rear air blows hot while the air is on up front.. i had it checked out and the rear has no ac its just a fan for the back..go figure. my customized Chevy express full size van does the same thing
the little electric motor for the air flow door is out. It automatically goes to the hot side.
it may be the relay switch or a fuse blown check under the hood in fuse box #1 and fuse box #2.
The heater core is probably leaking engine coolant. Replacement is necessary.
