What do you do at muzdalifah?

The main reason Muslims go to Makkah is to pray in the Holy Mosque. Often, they perform the Umrah, the lesser pilgrimmage, while visiting the Holy Mosque. Once a year, the Hajj, the greater pilgrimmage, takes place in Makkah and nearby sites. During the Hajj, three million people worship in unison. If a person performs the Umrah or the Hajj correctly, all his/her sins are forgiven. Every adult, healthy, sane Muslim who has enough money to travel to Makkah and can make arrangements for the care of his/her dependents during the trip, must perform the Hajj once in a lifetime. On the first day we collect 49 pebbles, throwing 7 at a big wall which is represented as the Devil. On the second day we throw the remaining ones on each of the three walls, two of the same size and one big one.

Please don't mix up the activities of 'Mina' and Muzdalfa

On the 9th of Zil hajj the Muslims stay in the field of Rafaat, and pray to Almighty Allah karim. Just at sunset they leave Arafat and come to Muzdalfa. They offer their Maghrib (Evening) and Isha Prayer together. Pray to Almighty Allah. They may also sleep for sometime. They collect small pebbles for stoning the Satan (jamarats). They offer their Morning prayer and just at sunrise leave Muzda;fa.

Muzdalifah is a valley between Mina and Mount Arafat in which pilgrims on Hajj spend the night in the open. It is here they gather pebbles to hurl at the pillars of Mina.
