Timothy dies in a hurricane that sweeps through their island, and Phillip buries him. A couple weeks (or days cant remember) later Phillip hears a plane so he sets their pile of "emergency" sticks on fire. The plane sees them and radios in on a ship. The ship goes to the island and rescues Phillip and stew cat. Phillip is reunited with his family and after a couple of surgeries gains his sight again. And then it basically ends with him saying that he hopes to go on a cruise one day around the cay to try to find the island he buried timothy in, and say to his grave, "Dis b'dat outrageous cay, eh, Timothy?'
