∙ 9y agoIf you leave a tampon in for more than a few hours, you may experience odor and may increase the risk of Toxic shock syndrome. If you remove the tampon by yourself, there is no need to douche nor to start antibiotics if you're feeling well. If you can't remove it on your own, see your health care provider or your local family planning agency. This is a complaint they've heard before.
