To figure out fuel consumption and reserves, weight and balance problems, and for navigation in case the electronics don't work. Deficiencies in any of those areas make for very dead pilots. Not only do pilots need math, they need to be able to do it under pressure -- often while doing other things as well.

Percent decrease is when your overall percentage goes down. Example: I take a 4 problem math test and get one wrong, 75%. I take a 2 problem math test and get one wrong, 50%.

Having a friend telling you that you did a math problem wrong and the math you did is the reason you got a different answer from the group.
