I know in Nevada if you know of a will you have 30 days to file it with the courts from the date you find out of their passing. U will need a probate lawyer who will discover assets and the court will take it from there. Probate can take a yr or more. People can contest the will or submit versions they say are more recent. Either an executor will be named or a spec. administrator may be assigned to settle the accounts and then the court may release excess property to those who are entitled. I hope that helps
