it will run lean, eventually causing detonation (pinging) which is very distructive to your engine.
There is no fuel filter located in line. The only fuel filter is located in the fuel tank.

In an automatic Eclipse, the transmission filter is located inside of the transmission. To change the filter, the entire transmission must be disassembled to reach it.

2000-2004 Eclipse models have adopted a fuel pump module which includes a fuel filter. Fuel filter replacement is not listed in the maintenance table.

The fuel filter will get clogged and the engine will either run poorly or not at all. This can also cause the fuel pump to overheat and self destruct. Replace the fuel filter if you suspect it is clogged.
I called the Mitsubishi imports dealership and they said that the Eclipse Gt 2000-05 takes 4.5 quarts of oil and that is with the filter too! so no more than 4.5 quarts with a new oil filter Hope that helps you and everyone!
