These sources are more plentiful, and fat is a much more efficient energy storage molecule than glucose. Glycogen is more easily converted to glucose, so it is utilized first.

When you are doing hard exercise often time the body is not able to take in all the oxygen it needs so instead of the normal aerobic respiration your body will use anaerobic respiration.
