No actually its surprising i know but the vitamins in the milk will provide the immune system protection so the blood cells fight the cold so much you end up with a fever if you were only breast feed you cant get a cold at all only fevers.

∙ 9y agoThe baby would get sick, just like food poisoning--diarrhea, colicky belly, gassy, fussy, fever, etc. These can quickly lead to dehydration! If you know it was spoiled at least call a hospital or doctor and ask them what you should do.

∙ 11y agoYes, to a degree. A mother's antibodies are available in breast milk to provide immunity to nursing infants. It is one of the most important reasons to try to breast feed a newborn even if only in small amounts and for a short time. If you still have the cold or flu, the challenge is to nurse the baby without spreading the germs directly to her at the same time. If you have another person who can feed the baby with expressed breast milk in a bottle until you are no longer contagious, that would be more ideal. After you are over the cold or flu, your antibodies will still be available to the baby in the breast milk. Otherwise, wash your hands and breasts very well before preparing and feeding the baby and do not touch yourself or the baby any more than absolutely necessary during the feeding. You may need to wear a surgical mask during feeding and caring for the baby so that you are not able to get respiratory droplets on the baby with an uncontrolled cough or sneeze.
Additionally, for Infectious Diseases like the flu and other infections that have vaccines available for disease prevention, you can help with the baby's ability to resist infections by having your vaccinations up to date. Then you can pass to the baby the antibodies your body made after exposure to the vaccine for those infections, as well. Infants under 6 months old can not receive vaccinations since their immune systems are too immature, that is why, again, vaccinations and breast feeding are important to your infant's health.
