You should report it stole as soon as possible to the authorities.

If you are out of the country then you need to call your local consulate or go to it and get an emergency passport to allow you to travel home

I was on a coach bus when this happened to a person. They took her off the bus and brought her into this building where they look through files, and if you are a registered citizen of the U.S. you'll be good otherwise you're screwed w/o a visa. It will take a very long time to do this process though

Accessing a British government website is not possible without a valid British passport you will not be able to request a state pension statement or any other service that is offered by Gov.co.uk In affect you become a non-person without one. This is the fact you might not wish to travel outside the UK. or pay the £70 fee to obtain one.
