If it gets out of its cage it will be flying and flapping its wings like a crazy bird. They are pretty hard to catch but never leave a parakeet in its cage for the rest of its life.
Give it some exercise :) your bird will be nice and healthy! :D
well i dont know exactly what happens when your parakeet falls but when i let my parakeet out he accidently hit his head then fell then got up and continued flying nothing bad happened to my parakeet so i dont think parakeet gets hurt when it falls
Never force it into the water, let it do it at its own pace.
1. Open the door and let it come out itself. 2. Get the budgie up on your hand and get it out. 3. Grab the budgie and pull it out.
If it is tame enough for you to do so, you can let it snuggle up to your chest. Close any doors/windows that might be creating a draft. Turn up the heat if necessary. You can also put a towel over the parakeet's cage, covering it completely or with only the front of the cage uncovered.
It your parakeet lays two eggs on the botton of the cage, you might as well just leave them alone. By know you should have a nest in the cage. it is a big box in the cage with a whole in it. we got one a couple days ago cause my bird laid 4 eggs!!!! i know it is crazy. Well, good luck with your parakeet!!! Essa
Well parakeets need to be out of their cage for t least an hour a day, you can have it out longer but if your bird is one that does not like to be messed with I would suggest letting it on top of the cage and carring it just occasionaly.
since no one has answered you... I thought I would let you know my rat killed and ate my two gerbils. I let her out for a while and she found a way into the gerbil cage and she attacked them. ick. Another rat I had killed it's cage mate (rat).
Leave it in its cage for about a week to get used to the new surroundings. Then let it out for a fly. make sure you close all blinds and curtains as the parakeet can crash into the window and get a terminal injury.
Let him out and get to know his surroundings, protect him from dogs or cats, then let him come to you if he will. When you need to chase him to put him back in his cage grab him gently from the back and see if he will stay on youtr lap or shoulder. Be patient and let him become comfortable with you.
Don't let your dog see your parakeet!
Sitting with one foot up. If my parakeet wants out he will pace the bottom of his cage. If u have a necklace he will suit on u for hours and chew on the silver. Once they are comfortable with you they will try to eat anything you eat. Its cute but dont let them become a scavenger like bird.
