Could be a few things. The most common reason for a limb falling asleep is that you positioned the limb funny and compressed a nerve in that limb against something, causing the limb to "fall asleep." If that was not the source sometimes injuries to nerves will cause the same effect.

∙ 9y agoIf your right arm goes numb, it will be pretty painful and annoying. It is common to wake up with a numb arm or hand and does not necessarily mean that it is a health issue but it does mean that the blood flow to that arm has been cut off for some reason.

∙ 9y agoOne way to make your arm go numb is to lay on it to cut the blood circulation. However, Don't do this for an extended period of time.
