Catholic answerIt's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church.

Baptism begins with the sign of the cross (the priest says, "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" and everyone blesses themselves). Then there is a reading from The Bible (Catholics love the Bible, there is at least one reading from the Bible in nearly anything that they do). Then the priest exorcises the person about to be baptised. This is a simple exorcism (as opposed to the full blown rite for a possessed person) and anoints the person with the oil of catechumens. Then the baptismal water is consecrated by a prayer of epiclesis (The Church asks God that through his Son the power of the Holy Spirit may be sent upon the water, so that those who will be baptised in it may be "born of water and the Spirit". The the Baptism, the essential rite follows: it signifies AND brings about death to sin and entry into the life of the Most Holy Trinity through configuration to the Paschal mystery of Christ. There are a couple forms of it, usually the water is poured on the head three times, with (in the Latin church) the words: "N., I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." Then the person is anointed with sacred chrism. The new Christian is given a white garment and a lighted candle, and can pray the prayer of the children of God: "Our Father..."
