∙ 12y agoIn the short story "The Red-Headed League" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Mr. Jabez Wilson goes to the bank cellar on Saturday night to copy out the Encyclopedia Britannica in exchange for a high salary. However, this is all part of a ploy orchestrated by criminals to keep him out of his workplace so they can tunnel into a nearby bank and attempt a robbery.
