Many churches have a joyful celebration of Christ's birth, which may include a formal liturgy or a completely informal service. Christmas carols are sung; in some churches there is a special children's address; some churches have tasteful worship dances performed. In churches which do not have a Christmas Eve service, there might be a pageant re-enacting the Christmas story, while churches that have a Christmas Eve service (such as the Lutheran church) are more likely to do such a pageant on Christmas Eve.
