When an atom loses a proton it is normally because it has collided with a neutron or another atom. It would change the element from Carbon to Boron.
Hope this helps, i may not be entirely accurate ive only just begun studying this at A level.
A sodium atom has 11 protons.
Boron has 5 protons in an atom. The atomic number is the same number as the amount of protons.
5 protons, 5 electrons and 6 neutrons :)
Boron, Symbol= B Atomic Weight= 10.811
The atomic number of boron (5) indicates the number of protons in the nucleus of a boron atom. This means that a boron atom has 5 protons. Since atoms are electrically neutral, it also tells us that a boron atom has 5 electrons to balance the positive charge of the protons.
5. If it is more or less than 5 protons then it is not boron.
The number of protons change the element name. For example, 2 protons is Helium. 5 protons is Boron. I know this is short, but I have to study for a bio test now so... bye... hope this helped

The mass number of an atom is the sum of the number of protons and neutrons in its nucleus. In this case, with 5 protons and 6 neutrons, the mass number of the boron atom would be 5 + 6 = 11.
4 protons and about 5 neutrons
Boron has 5 protons because the atomic number represents the number of protons in an atom.
5 protons in one atom of boron. look at the periodic table.
