Answer 1 - Air Density varies with AltitudeIf all other factors remain the same, then air density will decrease as altitude increases. Answer 2 - Another OpinionAs the altitude increase, the density decrease so the air velocity increase so the air pressure decrease and as a result we got a large amount of air mass flow rate

Air density (mass per unit volume) increases as altitude decreases. Gravity pulls atmospheric particles around the Earth, but pressure is the greatest at the bottom surface of the Earth where millions of particles are stacked up in a column till the edge of the atmosphere. Towards the outer edge of the atmosphere, the air particles are being weighed down on less and the pressure decreases with higher altitude.

-- The density of a closed jar full of air doesn't change, no matter how high you take it.

-- The density of the open air in the atmosphere that's all around you decreases steadily

as your altitude increases.

Density of air goes down as the distance from the earth goes up. This is why you need oxygen even at a relatively short distance from earth on a commercial airplanes (if a leak occurs). Airplanes are pressurized so you don't realize the reduced oxygen and the reduced pressure due to the air density being lower.

At a point about 350 miles from earth, you're considered to be space. We think of space as a vaccum so essentially no air. Air density has fallen to 0.

Air pressure measures the amount air pressing down from above. The pressure also forces the air molecules to press together. That is the density of the air. As altitude increases (you go higher), the amount of air above decreases, so the air pressure decreases and the density also decreases.

How does air pressure change as altitude is increased?

As altitude increases so air pressure reduces, until the limit of our atmosphere is reached. After which the vacuum of space is entered.

When mass and volume change what happens to the density?

When mass increases and volume stays constant, the density increases. When volume increases and mass stays constant the density decreases. When they both change, then the density will depend on the rate of change of mass and the rate of change of volume.
