That's what happens to evil people; -- they go back to the dust from whence they came. Animals in The Bible are also called 'souls'. They too go back to the dust, from whence they came.
There is no such thing as 'eternal torment' to worry about. Jehovah God would NEVER in a billion years have such a place in his Universe. There is merely 'non-existence' to worry about. The opposite of 'life' is 'non-life' also called 'death'. The opposite of 'existence' is 'non-existence'.
Other Views:NOT TRUE!!!!!! (a note from another answerer: DONT QUOTE THE BIBLE WRONGLY!! if you put dots you can change quotes to say anything!!! :( )ACTUALLY
everyone is evil but if we believe in God and have faith in Him, repent and believe that Jesus died and took away your sin, that you are saved by Him and not by your works. Those who are not believers, shall go to hell and shall eternally suffer. Even if you go to church and do lots of 'good' things, you cannot be saved unless your heart, soul and mind are in it. Those who put their trust in Christ, will go to Heaven.
Also the Bible references from the former answer have been interpreted wrongly. Genesis 3:19 does say that we shall all return to dust when we die, but that is just our body.Not our soul.
And Ezekiel 18:4 ACTUALLY says "Behold, all souls are Mine;The soul of the father
As well as the soul of the son is Mine;
The soul who sins shall die.' It is difficult to know exactly what this means but it DEFINETELY DOES NOT SAY THAT ALL SOULS SHALL DIE!!!
please, read the Bible. Look into it yourself. you have to decide what you believe yourself.
The answer to this question depends on what set of beliefs you follow. In the purely physical sense, the first answer is the most apt. Different religions approach eschatology and the afterlife differently. Instead of reading a few viewpoints online, I'd suggest you talk to spiritual counselors from various religious sects. Talk to Priests, Ministers, Rabbi's, those who practice eastern religions, etc. You're question is far too complex to have answered in such a forum as this.

Those denominations that do not practice Confirmation believe there is no place from where such authority can be obtained.
In the way someone tells you it's right to go to church on a Sabbah and you go just because they tell you is a custom. For other people they go to Church and practice the Sabbath because they read in the Bible and know for them selves that it is right, that's a true practice.
As of January 2011, there are 14.1 million baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) worldwide. Estimates are that about 60% of those actively practice the religion.
