This is explained in Matthew chapter 13.
Matthew 13:20 The seeds that fell on rocky ground stand for those who receive the message gladly as soon as they hear it.
Matthew 13:21 But it does not sink deep into them, and they don't last long. So when trouble or persecution comes because of the message, they give up at once.
This kind of person will hear the Word of God respond in a positive way but like the soil their confession is shallow and they will turn away from a Christian life. This kind of person is not a true Christian and I guess they will face judgment and be found wanting.
