nothing happpens. changing the shape doesnt do anything and adding more doesnt do anything either. the density will change tho if you add another chemical or substance

ans

the above comment is correct. Unless you applied a force that changed its overall volume of course, whilst changing its shape.

What happens to the density of a given substance if you increase the amount of substance that you have?

No change: Density is a property of the substance (physical property), which is not changed by the amount of substance.

What happens to the density of the substance during thermal expansion?

Thermal expansion is the tendency of matter to change in volume in response to change in temperature. During thermal expansion, the density of a substance decreases as its volume increases. Volume is the space occupied by a body. So, when a substance expands on heating, it will occupy more space or will have more volume. But its mass does not change because the amount of matter contained in a body cannot change. Therefore, mass divided by increased volume gives a decreased density.

When a solid block of materials is cut in half what happens to the density?

The density does not change, as density is the amount of material in a given amount of space. But each piece has the same amount of space and material relative to each other.

Does density change if you change the size?

Answer #1:Yes, assuming the mass stays the same.==================================Answer #2:A large amount of a substance has the same density as a small amount of the same substance.A gold nugget has the same density as a gold bar.A tank-car-ful of fresh water has the same density as a glass of fresh water.

Is density an intensive property or extensive property?

Intensive because it doesn't depend on the amount of material.

Is the density of 1 liter of olive oil the same as the density of 4 liters of olive oil?

Yes. The density of a certain substance does not change according to the amount of that substance.

Do properties remain the same regardless of the amount of the substance?

Intensive properties remain the same with a change in the amount of a substance - for example: temperature and density Extensive properties do not remain the same with a change in the amount of a substance - for example: mass and volume

Why does the density of a substance remain the same for the different amount of the substance?

Density represents mass per volume and so when homogeneous (and incompressible), an amount increase/decrease does not change density, as the mass and volume change in the same proportioning. Water density is 8.34#/cu ft, whether it is 2 cubic feet or 4 cubic feet.

Why does the density of a substance not change no matter how much of the substance you have?

Because density is a "ratio".

How can you change density of a substance?

You can change the density of a substance by changing its volume. Density is equivalent to mass over volume. So changing the volume affects density.

When substance change forms what happens to the density?

The value of the real density is not changed, when, for example a metal plate is transformed in wire or a marble object is broken.
