If it is summer at the South Pole, then everywhere in the northern hemisphere is experiencing winter.
Well, think about it. If its summer in the northern hemisphere, it should be winter in the Southern Hemisphere. If you don't believe me, then go ask a scientist.
The seasons south of the equator are opposite to the seasons north of the equator.
When it is winter north of the equator it is summer south of the equator.
If it is winter above the equator, it must be summer below the equator probably.
December, January, and February are.
It is hotter on the Equator. The more you go above or below it, the colder it gets.
It is above the equator.
Louisiana is above the equator. No part of the continental US is below the equator. This assumes that you are comfortable with the completely arbitrary convention of calling north above and south below.
It's above the equator
The continent of Australia is completely below, or south of the equator. Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere because it is south of the equator.

You can flip the world around so to Nigerians they would say they are above the equator, but to people in North America, you would say Nigeria is below the equator. Nigeria is in the southern hemisphere.
