They simply are not registered. If you want to show them that is another case. The inquire in some shows that are for a special breed to be registered. There are many websites that you can register your Arabian for. Just make sure when you enter a show that you read the qualifications and know if they need to be registered or not.

What happens when a horse insn't registered?

If a horse is not registered with a breed registry they cannot show in registered shows for that breed and any offspring of that horse cannot be registered as a pure bred. They can probably still be registered as a half breed provided the other parent was registered. IE- If a purebred registered Arabian stallion was bred to an unregistered mare the foal can be registered as a half-Arabian no matter what the breed of the mare was or if she was even registered. Unregistered horses can still compete is open horse shows and shows which do not require a breed affiliation.

How do you know if an Arabian horse is Purebred?

Because the Arabian horse has a registry, any purebred Arabian horse should be registered. Some people chose not to register their horses, but they should still have paperwork that would allow the horse to be registered. Not only that, but some places brand (either freeze/hot brands on the skin or ink tattooing on the inner lip) their horses.
