do you have a heatpump or a/c? if it is a heat pump you can,that is what happens when the system goes in to the defrost mode. if its freezing you could be low on charge or or bad defroster board or even worst a bad reverseing valve.

There is no A/C defrost relay. The defrost mode of the heating and air coditioning is a default mode whenever the system is not operating as it should. It automatically goes to defrost mode when the system is not operating as it should.

You have a vacuum line disconnected probably under the hood. The HVAC controls are operated by vacuum and when there is no vacuum it system goes into defrost mode.

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer that is get low air flow from the defrost vent when the defrost unit is selected. Most of the air flow is going to the floor vents. Is the blend valve bad?
Hi, It is not the blend door, that is for heat/cold changes. The mode door could be the problem, or stuck defrost door.
