A gray wolf can have 1-6 pups in one litter but the average is 5-6 pups. Females can have only one litter for the year, since their breeding season lasts from late winter and into early spring. Following on that, a wolf doesn't turn sterile like human females in later ages so females can rear wolf pups until they die.
A typical wolf in the wild has a lifespan of about 11 years. Though a wolf in captivity may live as long as 17 years. A wolf leads a very dangerous life. Many pups die at a young age, due to things such as disease, coyotes, bears and eagles.
They don't retire they are either killed by the younger wolf who takes over the pack or goes off alone to die.
Wolves have an average of 6 pups, but have been known to have up to 14.the average wolf litter is about 5 cubs2 - 8, but average is 3-6.If you mean how many babies, they get 2 - 6 babies and one fact more is that the survival rate of the babies is half the litter.Usually a female wolf will give birth to aroung 4-5 pups in a litter.Female wolves have litters of one to eleven pups in a lair that may be a cave, a hollow tree trunk, a thicket, or a hole in the ground. The pups normally stay with the parents until the following winter but may remain much longer and become a pack, establishing and defending a territory marked by urine and feces.
