Repeated use of an inhaler causes addiction. This eventually leads to a patient being not responding to the medicine in the inhaler and may eventually result into death in case of an attack.

Its advisable avoid conditions that usually bring attacks since after every after attack requires the patient to use the inhaler. The patient should make use of other Asthma tablet drugs such as salbetamol, predinsol (sp). instead of using an inhaler.

The patients should avoid these; deodorants, perfumes, sprays, insecticides, pesticides, dust, chocking fumes such as burning tires, avoid making fire using plastics, avoid cold conditions and always take fruits to avoid influenza.

There are so many things to avoid depending on where the patient lives.

An inhaler that has a specific fast acting medication in it, usually Albuterol. It works quickly when you have sudden symptoms, which is why they call it a "rescue" inhaler. Other Asthma meds or COPD meds like an inhaler that has a steroid, like Advair, are more maintainence inhalers and would not be used to relieve sudden symptoms.
