Nothing catstrophic. Some of your fuel will evaporate instead of being used.
Gas Cap is not on tight, or the seal leaks and you need to replace the cap.
gas cap seal bad , replace gas cap !!
the code stands for a "Large Evap Leak" check your gas cap seal and change out the gas cap if the seal is bad, do not purchase aftermarket gas caps for Saabs.
Any vapor leak from the fuel system can cause a "gas cap" light.
no sensor, but if cap dont seal it will set code 440,fuel tank not hold vacuum.make sure the gas cap is tight,if is replace with new.
Well if you over fill it at the gas stand of course it will over flow, if you fill it to tyhe brim and replace your cap it will not over flow - unless your filler cap has a faulty seal, if it has a faulty seal the gas is likely to spill out while driving.
possible gas leak or not a good seal on the gas cap. hope this was helpfull, Beathalor
If the gas cap is not on tight or the seal is defective the gas fume recycling system will not work and the vehicle will not start. Make sure the cap is on TIGHT! If it is on tight, you have a air leak some where check the gas cap seal! The above is probably not the case if this happens more than a couple of times. Early on, my Santa Fe continually would not start after filling up with gas, so I began to leave the car running, which I do not advise. After a while, I took it to the dealership. They replaced the fuel tank, which is plastic, and I never had the problem again.
Might mean the gas cap is loose, or the cap seal or o-ring is not sealing. It all has to do with tank pressure and venting if ur cap clicks when u turn it to the right it should be locked down if not get a new one.
the weight wont do much but if you add a stronger gas it will sink.
The code should be for a loose gas cap or a bad seal on the gas cap. I got the code one time for not replacing the gas cap after filling up at the gas station. Also, keep in mind, that code P0440 wont fire until the gas tank is at least 15% empty. So if you fill it up, it will clear the code. When your tank is at 85% full, it will come back on again. Sometimes the code fires due to a loose gas cap; other times there is a vacuum leak in the EVAP system or a malfunctioning charcoal canister, solenoid , etc in the system. This is not a critical repair. Your vehicle should drive fine. But you should have it checked for leaks, etc.
Did you fix your ski, it may be a bad seal and it is losing too much compression.
