Salmonella is a bacterial infection that can makes you sick. It can cause diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps between 12 to 72 hours after infection. The infection can spread from the intestines to the blood stream and infect other parts of the body. Death can be a result if left untreated.

first of all you have the skin and other outer defenses to stop it getting into your body. If it pases that then the Salmonella will have to compete for space and resources with other bacteria in your stomach. If it gets past those your body will fight it off the way it does with any other infection. Your body temperature may be raised to make the environment harder to the salmonella to survive. Your body might also send white blood cells to attack the bacteria. however in some cases your body is overwhelmed by the toxins created byt he salmonella and that's where anti-toxin's and anti-biotics come in.
