This could also be because the hermit crab is stressed out because of lack of humidity or temp not being right. The hermit crab is vulnerable without his shell so separating him from the others and providing him with tons of shells helps. You can even use the cup method and place the crab gently in a cup with a shell. This helps sometimes.
hermit cabs are nocturnal animals so our day is their night. try talking to it all the time and maybe it will come out. mine wont come out either but i keep talking to it and shes coming out more. my brothers comes out all the time and mine stays in so they have different types. sometimes they are active at the store and when you get home they stay in their shell(like mine) there is no need to worry it is not dead it is just sleeping what i do is i check on it every time i go in my room or if i have free time it moves alot!
Hermit crabs come out at night and stay in their shells at day.
BC there nocturnal
Or they could be dead!
i dont know for sure but it might be because the shell that it is moving in to might be too big or too small or them hermit crab could be very sterresed and want to be alone
it is supposed too, the shell is its protective home and it will not change shells until it gets ready too.
The hermit crabs probably has been out of it's shell, hermies are nocturnal. But if you are afraid that it's dead then smell the tank, if it smells like dead fish then a hermie has died :(
Its probably dead.
its dead
If your land hermit crab's shell gets to small get a new shell. The shell hole should be the same size as your crab's big claw or bigger Make sure your crab's new shell is clean. DO NOT FORCE YOU CRAB TO COME OUT! All you have to do is set your crab's new shell in it's cage and wait.
It depends who the Hermit Crab borrowed its shell from.
It may be happy with the shell is has on. NEVER force a hermit crab out of its shell. but over time it will molt and change to a diffrent shell.
Just pull on it, it should come out.
Only if no one is around!
Your hermit crab cam go fast depending on the whieght of the shell on the hermit crab. If the shell is light the speed of the crab will increase, if the shell is heavy on the crab the speed will decrease.
When a hermit crab outgrows its shell, it will move into a larger shell.
The relationship between a hermit crab and a shell is that thy are mutualism.
a crab with a shell
When a hermit crab sheds you will see something come out of the shell and it looks like its dead it only sheds halfway and if you look inside the shell it will still be there.
They livde to gether because the shell is a home for the hermit crab!
It is most likely curl in it shell then when you walk away or not touch it it will come out I know it for a fact
