no. because if we use dc source for transformer there will be no production of energy for the secondary side since they are mutually conducted, as the transformer is a static device which can transmite the energy from one circuit to other with out changing the frequency and also there is no movement of the conductors. in order to produce the emf there should be either conductor movement or moving flux so the dc source will produce constant field flux hence there is no production of energy in the secondary side.
A: Transformers are not an DC components. For them to work properly must have an alternating source. What happens if you put DC into either primary or secondary depends on the DC source power output capabilities and the transformer wire DC resistance. It becomes I x V -watts so if the source is not capable to supply the power nothing happens if however the source is capable to provide enough power the wire itself will become hot until the wire melts it is a proposition of power dissipation of the transformer itself
It's possible in principle, but it would be much more complicated than the traditional transformer. Basically you would have to convert the DC to AC, use a traditional transformer to change the voltage, then convert the current back to DC again.
You would short out the DC supply, as a transformer, or coil is a short to DC.
You can, but it will short out the main and destroy the transformer! Transformers only work with alternating current.
no,we cant use transformer in dc, but we can change the dc with help of switch (pulsating DC ) and connected to transformer. it will work
Overloaded DC supply, fuses fail, possible smoke.
NO
A transformer is a device to convert high voltage AC to low voltage AC & vice-versa. It works on the principle of induction. Since induction occurs only in an AC supply, a transformer cannot work on DC.. So, it is not possible to convert DC supply to AC using transformer. You would need an inverter to convert DC to AC.
Transformers don't work with DC supplies - they only work on AC.
No. Transformers work in AC systems, not in DC systems.
no, the transformer is much more efficient <><><> HOWEVER- a transformer only changes the voltage of AC current- it does not change it to DC. You will still need diodes or rectifiers. You can also use a motor/generator- a 230v AC motor turns a 12 v DC generator.
by using step-up transformer we can change the voltage in higher level

transformer cannot be worked on DC because as the dc is constant there will be no change of flux & may lead to shot circuit.
by using a resistor or capacitor or transformer
Transformers don't work with DC supplies - they only work on AC.
You can not change AC into DC using a transformer. A transformer changes the voltage levels. To change AC into DC, you would need a rectifier. To change that into smooth DC you need a capaciter and a voltage regulater
first, understand that a transformer is an AC DEVICE. it wont work on dc...
hthhrhr
to have transformer action there should be an alternating magnetic flux.but dc supply cannot produce alternating flux.

Trsansformers work on mutual induction principle caused by the changing magnetic field. Since there is no changing magnetic field i.e there is no "+" and "-" cycle in DC source supply so transformer cant work on a DC source. Its core will become permanent magnet.
You don't. Transformers only work with AC voltage. Their input will be an AC waveform, and their output will be an AC waveform. Other electronics are used to convert the stepped down AC waveform from the transformer to DC.
