when zinc oxide is added to nitric acid water and zinc nitrate (salt) are formed

the equation is:

ZnO + 2 HNO3 = Zn(NO3)2 +H2O

actually it forms the complex ion Zn(OH)4 with a charge of 2- and H2 gas.

Na+ ion remains unchanged.
