If you donate certain amounts of money you will receive certain prizes:
200,000 bells= A new bridge
500,000= A fountain(Which can be used to create the golden ax hint hint.)
1,000,000 and up= Lighthouse, Windmill

How do you go to boondox in Animal Crossing?
You do not "go" to boondox. You donate bells in the town hall to boondox and receive feathers as such. It is just a way to earn more prizes, (different colored feathers) not another offline paradise, like the island in the gamecube version.
