People on both sides of the war suffered from starvation, injuring, and lack of shelter. However, most people in the US did not suffer because the majority of the war was fought in a relatively small area.
They had to kill people who just a few years ago would probably wave to them on the street or ask for directions to the nearest pub or go hunting with you on their days off. its just like any other war except we killed our own friends and family
