As William was waiting to invade from Normandy, Harald Hardrada and Tostig, (King Harolds' brother), invaded on the northeast coast, attacked York and beat a locally raised army. King Harold had to rush northwards almost 250 miles with his bodyguard, raise another army and attack the Norse invaders at Stamford Bridge east of York; all of this without alerting the enemy.
After the Norse army were beaten, word came of the expected invasion from Normandy, so Harold had to ride south with his bodyguard and pick up another army to fight William near Hastings. The rest is history.
why the nomans won the battle of hastings was because harolds army got tired from fighting the vikings at stamford bridge so the normans killed the English troops and took over
Harold Godwinson and Harald Hardrada, fought in the Stamford bridge battle. Then Harold then had to walk all the way south of the country, until he got to the battle of hastings place. ( i don't no where it was fought, i think it was in hastings ) Harold had lost most of his well trained men and was really tired from walking all that way so he was tired for the battle of hastings. So supposedly, that's 2 of the reasons he lost.
yes, got his hed lopped clean off
King Harold was tired before the battle of hastings because he had no sleep, and because him and his army had faught for about 9 hours before, and marched a long distance.
It was not the Battle of Hastings he fought in that with William the Conqueror. The above is correct: It is the Battle of Stamford bridge, in Yorkshire,in 1066.also all this history stuff should be banned

king Harold was not prepared for the battle but the Normandy were well prepared. the reason why king Harold was not prepared was that he had another battle before the battle of Hastings. After he won the battle of Stamford bridge that was between him and Harald hadrada, he got to know that the Normandy had arrived England and he had to march 226 miles(363 km) for another battle. king Harold had lost his best men in the war and part of Harold's men were left behind on the way for the battle of Hastings. he also didn't have enough weapons.while king Harold was fighting in the battle of Stamford bridge, the Normandy built a castle. they had enough weapons and had men on horseback so the Normandy were really prepared and that's the reason why the Normandy won the battle of Hastings and that's the reason why William, duke of Normandy became the king of England
The battle of hastings got its name because it was near a place called Hastings (about 10km from it) and it was in a place called battle, which didnt get its name until after the battle.
William became king after the battle of hastings William became king after the battle of hastings
they won because they had more warriors, a better team and were better equipped than the opposing team :)They also won because when they got to stamford bridge they realised the vikings had no armour on so that made it alot easier! ;) good luck !
sorry i don't know, i need it for humanities homework though! :( King Harold Godwinson's brother was named Tostig. ANSWER. King Harold Godwinson had four brothers: Sweyn Earl of Wessex, dead in 1052, Tostig, who betrayed him and was killed at the battle of Stamford Bridge, Leofwin, Earl of Kent and and Gyrth, Earl of Essex, both killed at the battle of Hastings in 1065. Harold had also a sister, Edith who got married to Edward The Confessor and died in 1057.
It was Harold Hardrada the leader of the Vikings. And Harold Godwinson the Englishman ( who to be honest would have definetly been the best king) After that battle The Battle of Hastings came which involved William of Normandy and Harold Godwinson, Harold died because of an Arrow in his eye ( According to the Bayeux Tapestry) Then William became King and pretty much tortured the Saxons.. I have been studying this in History that is why I answered slightly more than the actual question, I got pretty excited when I saw this question so I hope I helpedd x xx
