There are many causes to the volince that dates back over 800 years ago.

1.nationalism and unuionism 2.religion 3.neglet and opression

Nationalism was somthing asscoiated with the catholic population who held a huge magority.unionism was asscoiated with the portestant population. There have been many rebellions to get rid of British rule which usally results in the unionists taking the sides of the British. In between rebellions there where often many riots and murders particually in the north between the two communites adding to tension until the next rebellion. Britan greatly favoured portestantism and catholics were often prosacuted or murderd.Protestants were given land and other privellages which added to tension even more. For most of the British occupation Ireland was one of the worlds poorest counties and went thourgh famine, hardship and neglect. The British turned a blind eye to this and is my main reason for there being so much conflict.

What was a cause of conflict among the population of Ireland?

A big cause of conflict among the Irish was their subjection to English rule. Many Irish people did not think Ireland should be an English colony, and several rebellions were held to attempt to free Ireland. Ireland was freed in the 1920s, and a civil war was fought in Ireland as they attempted to decide how they should be governed as a new nation. There is also conflict in Northern Ireland, specifically, about religion. There has long been tensions between the Catholics and Protestants in the region.

What is the source of conflict between Ireland and Northern Ireland?

There is no conflict between the north and the republic. Basically Ireland was under british rule and events in the years after the 1916 rising led to The British 'giving back' Ireland, ie creating a republic. Although, 6 counties in Ulster (out of 9) were kept under british rule, and are now Northern Ireland. Within northern Ireland there are nationalists, those who want the north to join the republic, and unionists, those who want to remain under british rule. Therefore the conflict is generally confined within the north..
